Scripps Ranch is a bedroom community in the northeast region of San Diego, California. Residents have spectacular views of the landscape and Miramar Reservoir.
Scripps Ranch is located north of the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, south of Poway, and on the east side of Interstate 15. This community is comprised of a variety of homes and offers many amenities. It is known for its many eucalyptus trees that are throughout the neighborhood and especially on Pomerado Road.
The San Diego Unified School District is the second largest in the state. Students attend many highly ranked facilities like Miramar Ranch Elementary School, Marshall Middle School, and Scripps Ranch High School. There are hundreds of private institutions like the Calvary Christian Academy, Escondido Adventists Academy, the Montessori American School, and Halstrom Academy. Public universities include the University of California (UCSD) and San Diego State University (SDSU) as well as the San Diego Community College District.
Miramar Lake offers fishing, boating, and picnicking. There is also a trail that is five miles long and wraps around the lake. Visitors enjoy the panoramic views of the northern communities, Miramar, Mira Mesa, and University City.
Scripps Ranch was named after E.W. Scripps, a newspaper publisher who originally owned 400 acres of this land before he expanded it. Companies in this community include Lockheed Martin, MedImpact, Hitach, and LG Electronics Mobile Communications USA.
There are several golf venues but to the north you’ll find the Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club. Besides practice facilities and a fully equipped golf shop, this club features a Ron Fream course. Banquet facilities as well as a bar and restaurant are available.
